Meet Your Museum 2019
The La Crete Mennonite Heritage Village is inviting La Crete and surrounding communities to a ‘Meet Your Museum” event on July 30, 2019. The event will start at 10:00 a.m. and go until 4:00 p.m. and again from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Coffee and snacks will be provided.
We have recently put together a Mennonite history exhibit that explains who the Mennonite people are, where the Anabaptist movement started, some of the migrations, and how it came to be that we have a Mennonite community in Northern Alberta. After seeing the exhibit you are welcome to a tour of the museum village. We have three new exhibits on the grounds: the Siemens Windmill, the La Crete Sawmills burner, and an Erdsemlin (underground dirt house – shows how our forefathers lived that first winter they moved from Russia to Manitoba)
